Enamel Pin Grading Guide
Please note that the grading criteria varies by store. This policy applies only to OppaboCo.
All enamel pins are made by hand and individually filled and
polished by workers so it’s difficult to guarantee 100% perfection. I do not sell perfect or collectors grade (S grade) or C grade pins. Please read my pin grading guide below before purchasing.
Standard/A Grade
All pins are standard quality and higher. All pins are standard grade unless otherwise stated. Standard grade pins contain no major imperfections that take away from the pin's design, but please note that since pins are handmade, they may include some minor imperfections such as:
- Small scratches on the metal or enamel
- Tiny bubbles/speckles/pores on enamel
- Minor underfill/slightly uneven fill of the enamel
- Scruffs on the side or back of pin (NOT the front)
- Slightly misaligned screenprinting
- Wiggly pin backs
Seconds/B Grade
Seconds pins have more noticeable flaws and will be sold at a discounted price. Seconds pins are not guaranteed to come with backing cards. Imperfections may include one or multiple of the following
defects:
- Deep scratches on the metal or enamel
- Heavily noticeable imperfections/staining in metal plating
- Overflow or underfill of enamel in obvious areas
- Completely unfilled areas/missing enamel
- Misaligned screenprinting
- No glitter detail/glitter overflow
Like all plated jewellery, pins will tarnish over time. This is a temporary condition and can be fixed with some non-abrasive jewellery polishing cream and a soft microfiber cloth. Please test polish a small area on the pin first to ensure the materials you're using won't damage the pin before you move on to polishing the
entire pin! Please be careful not to scratch off/wipe off the screenprinting when cleaning your pins.
